Hey friends, it’s Alle!

In this post, I bring you the hottest 2022 marketing trends that will change the way you post on social media.

Make sure you follow me on Instagram — so you don’t miss any tips.

If you’ve been using social media for marketing (like you should) this past year, you’ll know that a lot of things are changing.

And I’m sure you’re surprised and confused by Facebook’s “Metaverse” announcement and trying to figure out what it means.

The questions most marketers have right now:

  • Will Facebook combine with Instagram and Whatsapp into one entity?
  • What will marketing in the metaverse look like?
  • Are they going to focus on gaming more than e-commerce?

Your guess is as good as mine: ???

Indeed. We need more details from Face-Meta?

Nevertheless, I have been looking for answers elsewhere: Marketing studies.

These are the 4 biggest digital marketing trends to watch out for in 2022.

Trend #1: Ads on Smaller Platforms will give better ROI than Facebook/Instagram

Research has shown that Facebook is still “the king” when it comes to social media ads.

But anyone who’s marketing knows that ads on Facebook and Instagram are getting more expensive every year.

Organic reach on Facebook in 2021 was 5%, while on Instagram 10%.

Not to mention there’s also increasing competition.

You’re competing for attention with all the other businesses, influencers, marketers and your customers.

The result is obvious: ads on smaller platforms will get more popular.

Here are some alternatives:

  • TikTok ads are the most interesting & engaging because they don’t feel like typical ads
  • Pinterest ads have the highest ROI (lowest cost per lead)
  • Twitter ads are also coming up strong!

So which one should you choose?

Go where your target audience is!

Trend #2: Short form videos will dominate social media as the best content format (with one exception)

2022 Marketing Trend: Short form videos will continue to dominate social media. With one exception. Long videos will stay where they belong: on YouTube (bye-bye IGTV) #marketingtrends #socialmediatips

Long-form videos will stay where they belong: on YouTube.

But even YouTube is testing #shorts, aka. 15-sec videos that are more fun to watch!

Instagram has already “removed” IGTV (which nobody was using anyway) and is encouraging its users to share shorter videos — aka, “Reels, Reels, Reels!”

Wondering about TikTok? TikTok will still be around to entertain us and make us dance, laugh and hop on trends.

But in general, long-form videos are being replaced by shorter, more entertaining ones.

Trend #3 Livestream monetization is here — it’s really happening and you need to incorporate it into your strategy!

It’s time to get serious about Livestream.

Creators are finally getting paid for going Live on social media.

And this is a news we’ve all been waiting for since 2018!

Definitely one of the most exciting features to look out for in 2022!

Trend #4: “Authenticity” and “Inclusion” as key components in your brand messaging

As consumers demand more authenticity, less edited shots, and more realistic role models, marketers need to find ways to adapt their messaging.

Marketing campaigns in 2022 will focus on DEI (diversity, equality, inclusion) and presenting brands in a more “authentic” way.

Aaand, I’m here for it!

Conclusion — The Biggest Marketing Trends in 2022

The reality is this: Trends come and go.

But on social media identifying trends early can help give you an advantage like no other: virality.

Which of these 4 trends do you think will become a game changer for your business in 2022?

And which trend are you most excited about?
